An Attack Damage Carry, or ADC, refers to a ranged champion who deals consistent damage through basic attacks and scales heavily with offensive stats such as AD (attack damage), critical strike chance, AS, and on hit effects. ADCs are traditionally played in the bottom lane with a support, since their early game durability is low but they become strong late game threats through items and scaling.
The term ADC comes from an older champion classification system that emphasized damage roles. While the modern system groups most of these champions under the Marksman class, the community still uses the term ADC to describe champions that rely on sustained Auto attack damage to carry teamfights. Not all ranged champions fit this pattern. For example, some mages or battlemages function at long range but do not scale through physical damage or basic attacks.
Although no longer an official label, ADC remains one of the most recognizable role names in League of Legends. It typically refers to the primary ranged damage dealer assigned to the bottom lane, responsible for farming safely in the early game and becoming a major source of DPS in the mid and late game.
