ARAM, short for All Random All Mid, is a permanent 5v5 game mode in League of Legends that takes place on the Howling Abyss map. Each player receives a small pool of randomly assigned champions during champion select, and both teams fight exclusively in a single mid lane. The map includes four turrets per team, one inhibitor, a Nexus, and health relics placed along the lane to help sustain fights. Because everyone is forced into one lane, ARAM creates non stop skirmishes and frequent teamfights.
ARAM removes many elements of traditional Summoner's Rift gameplay, such as laning structure, jungle pathing, and split pushing. Instead, players constantly group, manage wave pressure, and look for opportunities to Push the lane or take fights when enemies are low. Matches are generally faster paced, making ARAM popular for casual play and for practicing teamfight mechanics.
Players returning after long breaks may be temporarily placed into ARAM games with Bot opponents to help them warm up before entering standard queues. A separate variant called ARAM Mayhem was also introduced, offering optional augments that create more chaotic and experimental gameplay.
